Chinese Painting and Calligraphy (Age 7 and up)

Taught by Ichen Wu, founder of Ichen Art Academy (formerly known as Ichen Art Studio), this class teaches students both the foundamentals and techniques of Chinese Brush Painting and Calligraphy. Students will learn how to use ink and colors to paint a wide variety of subjects such as flowers, animals, landscapes, and figures on rice paper. Students in this class work on their own pace, and are encouraged to develop their own specialties based on their interests. In the past 15 years, students from Ichen Art Studio have won numerous regional, state-wide, national and international awards in Chinese Painting and Calligraphy competitions.
Children's Creative Art (Age 6 to 8)

The main objective of this class is to enhance and develop students' creativity and observation ability. It will teach students how to utilize various art forms and materials, basic shapes, art concepts such as value scale, compositions, colors, line qualities and shading, so that they will have a solid foundation for intermediate and advanced learning.

Drawing and Sketch (Age 8 and up)

As a foundation class for drawing, this class emphasizes the drill and practice of live sketch. Students will learn how to draw shading using pencil, charcoal, color pencils, crayons, oil pastels and markers. They will also practise live sketching static subjects, plaster sculptures, and landscapes. This class is further divided into three levels:
Drawing and Sketch( Level 1 & 2)
As a foundation class for drawing, the Drawing Level 1 class is the introduction of different mediums and their properties, including the elements of art such as line, color, value, space shape and form. The Level 2 class emphasizes the drill and practice of live sketch. Students will learn how to draw shading using pencil, charcoal, color pencils, crayons, oil pastels and markers. Drawing and Sketch ( Level 3)
The Classical Realism Drawing Foundation program offers a disciplined study of drawing that is rooted in the method of 19th Century France. The program consists of a step-by-step progression in visual and structured drawing strongly emphasizing drawing from life. Students begin by learning to see and identify the simple shapes in complex objects, understanding value pattern and range,edges, and basic visual composition.

Watercolor and Oil Painting (Age 12 and up)

This is an intermediate level painting class. Students should already have basic knowledge of painting prior to attending this class. It will guide students to explore different styles of visual arts, from abstract to realistic, and from traditional to contemporary. Students will learn the techniques of painting on different materials, composition and perspective drawing.
AP Art and College Portfolio Prep. (For high school students)
The Advanced Placement (AP) and College Portfolio class is designed to help high school students prepare for the AP Art class and exam. The class combines technique and creativity to help students build the portfolios proceeding art related field majors or art colleges . Students will learn a variety of different concepts, techniques, and approaches to help demonstrate their abilities and bring their ideas into fruition.
Because of the increased difficulty of this class, students must have a solid foundation in drawing and painting, as well as having the teachers’ approval.
